How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?

The space was designed with collaboration and connectivity in mind, with the end goal to ultimately drive increased productivity. When you immediately step off the elevator, collaboration comes to the forefront as the first thing you see is a large area designed with that very function in mind. A coffee bar and kitchen, with counter height stools and groups of tables, creates an inviting welcome to the office. This is where you’ll quickly notice the floor-to-ceiling glass windows that showcase the downtown Indianapolis mallway.

WP Glimcher associates can meet informally over coffee at the coffee bar or chat in that same area with lounge seating. This area also has a conference room off to the side, with the ability to flex from a closed, private space to one large, open room for events like team meetings. Taller, more traditional workstations were transitioned to shorter, modern ones with frosted glass windows. This allows for more natural light and to let people communicate freely with others. In addition, there’s also embedded technology in several of the spaces, including one housed in the DIRTT solution, allowing mobility throughout the space.

What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?

The space breaks the conventional mold of a traditional, dated workspace which has historically had enclosed areas, limited natural light, and limited means of collaboration. Our new space merges privacy and openness in a way that allows people to get their work done, but does it in a way that offers choice, more natural light and more collaborative areas. When associates have some choice in where they work, they tend to be more productive (and happier) according to several research studies. This was what we wanted to achieve.

How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?

Throughout our entire space, you’ll notice one thing: it’s a very open and colorful space. We like to think of ourselves as bright, open-minded and creative real estate professionals who are focused on changing the real estate world. What better way than to start with our own space? The balance of color and neutrality with our white walls signifies a balance of pushing the boundaries in what we do every day, while also respecting our industry and our customers’ desires.

How does your space engage your employee base?

Focused on our people and the areas our properties serve, WP Glimcher places great emphasis on fostering a positive and strong culture and giving back to the community. Our values are based on open communication, continuous feedback and fostering a positive work environment. The transition of our old space to our new space reflect just that; we want a workspace that lets our associates communicate open and freely, while also giving them choice in their work settings. By offering our associates these options, we work to create a positive work environment that benefits all.
