How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?

With roots dating back to the mid-1950s, UBS has a rich history in Indianapolis. After 20 years in our previous location, we designed a new office space that improves both our employee and client experience. The space celebrates collaboration while also focusing on health and wellness. This helps execute our mission to be the firm of choice for high-net worth clients and the advisory teams that serve them. 

The 20,000-square-foot space state-of-the-art facility includes many health and wellness features, including stand-up desks for each employee and two treadmill desks where employees can walk
throughout the day. A large seminar room can be used for in-office yoga sessions. 

An open floor plan and team suites allow senior leadership, financial advisors and members of our sales team to easily converse and collaborate throughout the day. Our teams see value in
working together and by removing office walls that traditionally segment employees, our office space allows for more free-flowing conversations, idea sharing and ultimately, increased productivity for our clients.

A modern kitchen area with ample seating, healthy food options and a refillable water bottle station encourages employees to share nutritional meals together. 

Our open stairwell invites clients and employees to take the stairs rather than ride the elevator and three terraces encourage getting outside for fresh air. Employees can run or walk on a mile-long path surrounding the building. Bike racks are accessible for those who bike to work and locker rooms with showers make it convenient to exercise at any point during the day. 

All of these wellness initiatives help our employees make their working hours productive and rewarding, while delivering world-class wealth management advice to our clients.

What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?

Visitors coming to our office for the first time often comment on the number of employees who are standing at their desks rather than sitting. While some employers offer stand-up desks for select employees, UBS took the investment further by providing all 67 employees with an easy-to-use stand-up desk. Employees can also routinely be seen taking conference calls at our treadmill desks. Many employees correlate improved mental health, physical wellness and job
performance with their ability to walk on treadmill desks throughout their work day. These features also create a buzz of activity and increased energy that often results in idea generation and collaborative problem solving. 

When employees feel their employer cares about their well-being, they are more engaged. Providing our employees flexible and collaborative work stations demonstrates our commitment
to their mental, physical and social health.

How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?

A bright and inviting lobby with local artwork welcomes clients as they walk through our doors. A coffee bar, located directly in front of floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto a terrace and lake, offers clients a comfortable place to sit and relax. Meeting rooms are strategically located in the front of our office, symbolizing our commitment to put the needs of our clients first.

How does your space engage your employee base?

UBS wants wellness and work-life balance to be front and center for our employees. Our new office space eliminates the unnecessary stress of choosing between working and being healthy. Wellness programs are often linked to greater productivity, less absenteeism and a reduction of long-term health care costs. These factors help contribute to a healthier workforce that strives to achieve success for our clients.

A modern-day wellness room, set off from the rest of the office, gives employees an opportunity to take time away from their busy schedule and relax or meditate during the day. The room also provides an ideal space for nursing mothers who are seeking privacy and comfort.

From guest speaker seminars promoting brain health to volunteer functions benefiting our local children's hospital to lunch parties celebrating March Madness, our space provides many opportunities to engage our employees.
