How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?
We have an extremely open environment. In fact, we only have 5 private offices amongst 85 employees in order to promote a collaborative space. As soon as someone walks in, they are immediately drawn to the buzz and chatter within the office as the majority of our employees are always up walking around on their headsets talking with customers and prospects. Our environment allows for employees to have multiple spaces to work from during the day: on the sales floor, within a private conference room (which are all named after college mascots), or at one of our various seating options (booths, high top tables, etc.). These work style options also allow for employees to work together as a team when needed as it’s simple to just stand up and walk over to an open conference room in order to meet for 15-20 minutes.
What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?
The success of our business is really driven by sales, so there are various ways that we recognize accomplishments throughout the day. We have a bell on one of our walls that sales reps ring if they achieve a certain margin when booking a load. We also have a gong that reps hit whenever they bring on a new customer, which are featured on our walls from previous years. Whenever a bell ring or gong hit occurs, it really sets the tone for how exciting the office environment can be. These features may be small, but visitors remember them because they are unique.
Prior to Spot moving in, the space was occupied by Jillian’s Entertainment. Spot’s building is quite old, which you can recognize from the brick walls throughout a portion of the office. There’s definitely a distinctive historical perspective from the brick walls combined with the modern and contemporary décor.
How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?
Upon entry, it’s pretty difficult to miss our red Spot sign off of Georgia Street, so folks are introduced to our brand right away. When you first walk in, visitors are immediately greeted by a bright neon sign with our logo that really sets the tone for what it’s like to work at Spot: energetic, fun, & fast paced. Our 8 core values are also featured across our back wall, which showcases that we really live & breathe these values…we don’t just say them…as employees are constantly reminded of them on a daily basis.
How does your space engage your employee base?
It’s all about the Hub here at Spot. The Hub, which is situated towards the front of our office, is a great space for our employees to eat lunch together and to just sit and take a quick mental break from their busy day. But most importantly, the Hub is where folks can grab unlimited coffee and where we host our annual cornhole tournament, monthly lunches, and other teambuilding activities.
We also have 4 screens throughout the office where we feature new employees, birthdays, service anniversaries, upcoming events, sales accomplishments, and pictures from office activities. These screens are typically changed on a daily basis, so employees definitely look forward to seeing what is posted every morning!
