How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?

Pivot is made up of four distinct-yet-interdependent teams: operations, brand management, public relations, and creative. Our open-concept space is organized by pods for each team, encouraging interaction and the sharing of resources and knowledge within and between disciplines. 

A trio of breakout areas plus a glass-walled conference room with white boards and an Apple TV further fosters that spirit of collaboration. We know our team members need quiet space to concentrate from time to time, so the office also includes two isolated focus booths for phone calls or distraction-free work.

What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?

A wall of windows on the east and west sides of the building floods Pivot’s open office with uninterrupted natural light and illuminates a hand-painted mural that reads, “Here’s to Progress.” At 40 feet in length, this mural (which was designed and painted by one of Pivot’s designers) is a daily reminder of what we stand for and how we work. And the bright, airy space provides a refreshing and inspiring environment for our team and visitors alike. 

How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?

The aforementioned mural speaks to a core philosophy of the Pivot brand: we are—and we work with—forward-thinkers, and we are dedicated to helping our clients continually grow, advance, and evolve. As a company and brand, we are open and collaborative, modern and industrious, and we value creativity and camaraderie. Even the lack of executive offices reflects a roll-up-your-sleeves spirit upon which the company was founded. 

At Pivot, we value and trust each other to work together and contribute, regardless of role, and our space reflects that. Finally, it is only fitting that our office is the former home to both a photography studio and a car showroom: both ventures with strong ties to art, design, and storytelling and a sincere focus on working and connecting with people.

How does your space engage your employee base?

Pivoteers, as our team members are called, are an eclectic and passionate bunch with an array of interests outside of marketing and not-so-hidden talents (from songwriting to competitive jump roping). It is an important part of the Pivot culture that we understand and appreciate each other as the unique individuals we are. Our space fosters this culture by allowing for opportunities to get to know each other and have some fun together. 

A large café table in the back hosts team lunches (formally every Friday and informally throughout the week). The open floor plan means it is not uncommon for Pivoteers to gather around a desk to laugh at a funny video or take turns playing DJ with our favorite 80s and 90s throwback hits. And our location in Fletcher Place, across the street from the Cultural Trail, provides access to post-lunch power walks and some of the best bars and restaurants in the city where we unwind, debrief, or just hang out at the end of the day.
