How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?
With more than 300 employees, it was important for MOBI to create an interior that encouraged interaction and collaboration. The 60,000-square-foot space features low walls to increase interaction, meeting rooms with names such as Hall & Oates, Beastie Boys, and Snoop Dogg for collaboration, and soundproof phone booths for private phone calls. The open space café features both long and round tables for a pub-like feel, and no matter the time of day, you can find MOBIans hard at work or enjoying each other’s company while they enjoy a latte or cup of coffee.
What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?
The most unforgettable aspect of the MOBI office space are the beneficial amenities heavily placed throughout that make each employee’s job more enjoyable. When you first walk through the doors into the spacious café, one of the first things you notice is the ping pong table, used to take a break from your computer and focus on friendly competition. The kitchen is anything but disappointing, replenished each week with fresh fruit, coffee, espresso, and more, to provide MOBIans with a little extra energy. We may or may not have consumed more than 25,000 shots of espresso last year… Walking further into the space, there is a room dedicated to relaxation, for those times when you just need to take a break from the day. Supplied with a smart television, video games, couches, bean bag chairs, and a popcorn machine, employees can recharge their batteries for a few minutes throughout the day or during their lunch breaks. In the development space, you’ll find the famous Lego wall—often featuring the latest 3-D portrait of a celebrity, employee, or Co-Founder (who take it in great stride!). All these features are small, but sweet, additions to the office that keep company morale high. Working in an environment as fun as MOBI’s is definitely unforgettable.
How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?
To represent MOBI as a tech company that offers cloud-based software for mobile devices to allow companies to manage all their employee’s devices, Axis re-designed the space in an efficient, centralized way. Axis paired the Co-Founder’s love for Restoration Hardware and hunting lodge aesthetics with a desire to speak to the broader company culture of a hip technology company. The space has been instrumental in making MOBI one of the top tech companies to work for in the Midwest.
How does your space engage your employee base?
The 60,000-square-foot space has a modern West Coast vibe and includes a movie theater, complimentary craft beer during the last hour of the workday, and meeting spaces throughout. MOBI’s employees are engaged with the space around them daily. From the moment you walk in the door, you hear the crackle of a fireplace and see the various textures on the walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture. Employees have unlimited access to a game room, theater, popcorn machine, ping pong table, shuffleboard, basketball court, gym equipment, Lego wall, puzzles, espresso machine, coffee, fresh fruit, and more, to both refresh and recharge throughout the day. Perhaps the most engaging part of the space is the small supply of actual offices or doors. This correlates well with the open door policy that supervisors, leadership, and even Co-Founders have with employees at all levels, which ultimately leads to a super-engaged employee base.
