How does your space drive productivity, collaboration and connectivity?
We have an open door policy here at Meyer Najem. With our offices across the hall from one another, we can collaborate without leaving our desks which leads to fewer distractions from a project. We also have collaborative work spaces throughout the building- not only conference rooms but also small niches with chairs and tables that foster creativity and the exchange of ideas, while giving employees a chance to get away from their desks.
The lighting used in the building is varied based on the space as well. We use recessed lighting in the hallways and fluorescent lighting in the offices. Our conference rooms and the marketing meeting room contain the latest technology to collaborate on electronic materials or take part in a webinar. When an employee needs a place to unwind for a moment, we have a fantastic break room with a television that is stocked with coffee, cups, utensils, a popcorn maker, a large refrigerator and a freezer. We even have a shuffleboard table for employees to engage in a little friendly competition. When the weather is ideal, employees take advantage of an outdoor patio we constructed complete with water fountain, propane fire pit, patio seating and patio umbrellas.
What is the one thing that is unforgettable when someone walks through your space?
People are truly impressed by the level of detail, the natural light and the roomy workstations we provide for our employees. When visitors see our large board room and break room, they immediately comment about desiring to get a job here.
How does your space tell your company’s story and reflect its brand?
Our building is clean, innovative, well organized, cutting edge and open-concept with high enthusiasm spread throughout. The environment directly reflects our culture of maintaining high employee engagement and satisfaction. Our belief is when our employees are satisfied, it reflects in our client satisfaction.
How does your space engage your employee base?
When we started the process of designing our new building, we gave all of the employees an opportunity to provide input on designing the new headquarters. We divided our company into small work groups and asked them to identify the top five things they wanted included in the new space. We found there were common themes as we analyzed the results. Our employees wanted and received the following:
• Natural Light
• Large Break Room and Gathering Space
• Outdoor Space
• Collaborative Work Environment
Empowering our employees to contribute to the final product provided a significant buy-in from our employees. Everyone truly values the incredible workspace that we have which is definitely unique within our market.
